This tutorial will teach u, to hide the desktop icons and adjust the thumbnail size. This tutorial is very easy to understand.



1. Hiding desktop icons through registry editor...

Open registry editor. [ If you don't know how to open registry editor. Open run utility from start menu, type in regedit. Press ok to continue. Opens registry editor window.]

In the left hand side is hierachical view of the registries for every class. And the right hand side is the content pane.

Use the + mark to expand the hierachies at left hand side.

Goto
 " HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Policies\Explorer"

Click on Explorer, and at right hand side content area, Create a new DWORD value.
Name it "NoDesktop". And enter value 03ffffff [ hexa-decimal].
Refresh the registry by pressing F5 [shortcut]. And reboot again to see the change in effect.
Bang!!! You won't see any desktop icons, Right click context menu won't appear also.

If you want to restore the effect. Just locate through the registry editor. And delete the DWORD value you just created. Refresh and reboot. Every thing will be at its position as it was.


2. Adjusting the thumbnail size of the icons. that is when you change the view to thumbnail, you'll see bigger icons that display the file contents. You can adjust its size.
Open the registry editor. and Goto
" HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Explorer"
Click on Explorer, And see if there is any DWORD value with name "ThumbnailSize".
If it is not there, Create a new DWORD value and name it "ThumbnailSize". Enter the value in Decimal number system. between 100-250. Higher the number, bigger the size of the thumbnail.
